The Tri-Cities has crossed an important threshold a month away from B.C. moving into the final phase of its COVID-19 restart plan (Sept. 7).
The region administered enough vaccine doses to reach a 73% collective average among eligible residents aged 12 years and older that sought a second jab in a one-week period.
The latest data by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) was collected between July 27 and Aug. 2.
It represents a 5% bump compared to the previous count of 68% between July 20 and 26.
Port Moody-Anmore-Belcarra continues to lead in the category with 76% vaccination rate for second doses — a 5% boost of its own calibre from 71% a week prior — and is currently the only surveillance region with a 0% positivity rate.
In terms of first doses, Port Moody is now joined by Coquitlam's southwest neighbourhood at the 85% plateau.
The numbers broken down among the five surveillance neighbourhoods are as follows. Case rates are new cases per 100,000 people by local health area and community health service area:
North Coquitlam
- One case
- 1% positivity rate
- 83% of 12+ population vaccinated with at least one dose
- 72% of 12+ population vaccinated with a second dose
Southwest Coquitlam
- One case
- 1% positivity rate
- 85% of 12+ population vaccinated with at least one dose
- 73% of 12+ population vaccinated with a second dose
Southeast Coquitlam
- One case
- 1% positivity rate
- 84% of 12+ population vaccinated with at least one dose
- 72% of 12+ population vaccinated with a second dose
Port Coquitlam

Port Moody-Anmore-Belcarra

As of Wednesday (Aug. 4), provincial data says 3,777,588 British Columbians have received at least one dose of vaccine, and 3,146,669 people are fully vaccinated with two doses of vaccine.
The government estimates that this translates into 81.5% of the eligible population being vaccinated at least once, and 67.9% of the eligible population being vaccinated twice.
ARE YOU STILL LOOKING TO GET VACCINATED?
As part of the Vax for B.C. province-wide initiative, Tri-City residents can now walk-in to a designated immunization clinic to get a first or second dose as supplies and capacity allow it.
This includes a "special event" clinic scheduled to be set up by Fraser Health in Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam tomorrow (Aug. 6) between 3 and 7 p.m.
The province says this is part of efforts to offer convenience for eligible residents who still haven't received a first dose or a second — it must be seven weeks (49 days) since the first jab.
The Poirier Forum in Coquitlam is still acting as a drop-in vaccine clinic open daily from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Same with the vaccine clinic at the Coquitlam Central Station Park and Ride, which is now operating under new hours:
- Monday to Friday = 9:45 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturdays, Sundays and STAT holidays = 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
