A criminal case against a Coquitlam man accused of killing a kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nation (KFN) councillor will be back in court next month.
Today, Oct. 13, the matter against David Frank Hall was adjourned to Nov. 17 at Abbotsford Provincial Court.
Hall is charged with the second-degree murder of Stephanie Patterson, a mother of three who was found dead in Mission this summer.
Patterson, Hall's former spouse and sister-in-law of former KFN First Nation chief Ed Hall, was reported missing on Aug. 12 after leaving the Coquitlam reserve the night before with David Hall.
The 44-year-old woman was last seen at the Meadowvale Shopping Centre in Pitt Meadows.
Patterson was voted to KFN council this past spring along with Chief Ron Giesbrecht and Coun. George Chaffee.
Elected to serve a four-year term, ending March 31, 2027, Patterson was appointed to lead the Nation's community services division that includes housing and maintenance, health, education, careers and training, and culture and language.
On Oct. 6, John Peters was re-elected to council following a byelection to replace Patterson, a KFN spokesperson told the Tri-City News today.
