A pair of businesses in the Tri-Cities have been added to a list of COVID-19 workplace exposures and are in a 10-day closing period
According to Fraser Health, Colwin Electrical Group in Port Moody and Canada Cartage's Port Coquitlam location recently experienced exposure to the virus.
However, while both are closed in following protocols after at least three employees at each business recently tested positive for COVID-19, both are only partially closed out of concern for community spread.
Colwin's downstairs floor in its office at 2829 Murray St. has been closed off since Saturday (May 15), while Canada Cartage's office at 1488 Coast Meridian Rd. has been closed to the public and for staff only as of Friday (May 14).
These are the second and third Tri-City workplace facilities in the last six days to be listed by Fraser Health.
The Petro Canada gas station on 176 Golden Dr. in Coquitlam, also known as Mayfair, remains in its 10-day recovery period following an exposure to COVID-19 on May 12.
The workplace exposure at closed Polycrete Restorations' public office in Coquitlam identified on May 4 has since ended; that was the first since April 22 a Tri-City business was listed by Fraser Health.
Currently, there are 14 workplaces across the authority with a closure in effect, partial or in full, after being flagged for COVID-19.

Since April 8, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has asked all authorities to disclose the names of workplaces where three or more people have COVID-19 and transmission is likely to have occurred.
With the new order, the closure notice can be served by the health authority’s environmental health officers or WorkSafeBC with the goal to stop any potential spread of the virus and limiting community transmission.
“By using targeted worksite closures around current cases of COVID-19, we may be able to avoid or delay broader workplace closure measures, which could close entire business sectors,” states Fraser Health on its website.
As of this publication (May 18), Fraser Health has recorded 81,634 lab-confirmed COVID-19 infections, including 285 newly-detected cases in the last 24 hours
There have been 872 virus-linked deaths in the regional authority since the start of the pandemic.
Currently, there are 2,961 active cases, 74 people admitted into critical care among 199 hospitalizations and 77,666 recoveries.
