If you walk by Port Coquitlam city hall on Saturday (Sept. 10), you'll notice dancing and singing to celebrate the change of seasons.
The Tri-City Chinese Community Society is gearing up to host the local edition of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Leigh Square with plenty of family-friendly activities to mark the occasion.
The event is enriched in Asian culture and heritage as it dates back thousands of years.
In China, also known as the Moon Festival, it's believed to be the day in the fall when the moon is at its brightest and biggest.
More than 100 performers have been tapped to appear at the bandshell stage in Leigh Square for the festival, showcasing Chinese and Vietnamese folk dance, dragon and lion dances and even Kung Fu demonstrations.
As well, the free event, which will include dozens of volunteers from the PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives, will feature music from traditional instruments and a community market.
Interested residents can also try their hand at Chinese calligraphy, which will be set up in the Michael Wright Art Gallery.
Finished products will be displayed at PoCo Heritage by donation, with proceeds going towards the preservation of Chinese artifacts at the museum.
The PoCo Mid-Autumn Festival is scheduled to take place from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 10.
