A 22-year-old Surrey man has been charged with sex assault after he allegedly groped a woman on a Port Moody street.
The case dates back to Dec. 9, 2020, when a 24-year-old woman was walking down Glenayre Drive at about 3:50 p.m.
Police say the man approached the woman “aggressively” and then proceeded to assault her. The woman was left physically uninjured in the attack, said Port Moody Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Ian Morrison in a press release.
At the time, police called on the public to provide any evidence in the attack, from dashcam footage and surveillance video to witnesses.
“Through a diligent search of home owners’ video footage and canvassing the neighborhood for possible witnesses, a Port Moody Police patrol officer was eventually able to identify a possible suspect,” wrote Sgt. Morrison.
The sex assault charge against the 22-year-old man will be tested in a Port Coquitlam court.
