Letter: Pay parking will not encourage turnover, Port Moody resident claims

This letter writer believes pay parking is moot in places like Suter Brook Village where hour limits were already implemented.

The Editor:

Port Moody is implementing pay parking at a number of locations, including the residential area of Suter Brook Village where I live.

They claim it is being introduced to encourage turnover. Lie number one.

We already have posted limits for parking.

They also say it aligns with their climate goals. Lie number two.

Myself and a number of friends have electric vehicles, there is no exclusion for electric vehicles.

In these financially challenging times with inflation impacting everyone, adding the cost burden of pay parking to a suburban city is making it more difficult to make ends meet.

I can no longer in good conscience invite friends to visit and expect them to pay $5 to $10 for the privilege.

It is a shame many cities do not consider the financial and social impact on residents (and businesses) they only care about finding new revenue streams while decreasing quality of life.

City council is not looking out for the best interest of its residents.
