Letter: I have not noticed an increase in air traffic over Coquitlam

One letter writer, who says they live at a higher elevation in Coquitlam, doesn't believe in the "conspiracy theory" of more airplanes over the city.

Re: Letter: More airplanes over Coquitlam 'not a sustainable option' (Nov. 19, 2023)

My husband and I have lived in Coquitlam for over 20 years. We live on one of the higher elevations in Coquitlam. I do remember when the new runway opened that caused air traffic to travel above us.

When flying, we have noticed when we have flown over our house.

Having said that, I have not noticed an increase in an traffic since the COVID-19 pandemic. I stopped working during COVID (2020) due to a chronic illness.

Since reading the first letter, I have paid attention and have not found any times or days during which planes are going past every 80 seconds. If anything, I notice more Search and Rescue helicopters flying over. Due to the proximity of the mountains, the Lower Mainland is limited in the routes available to access the airpost.

I find it hard to believe that there is a conspiracy theory at play that has increased the air traffic over Coquitlam.
