Letter: Getting rid of a Coquitlam staple 'doesn't seem right'

This letter writer calls plans to build more high-rises in west Coquitlam "another disappointment in a long line of disappointments."

Re: Goodbye Denny's. Wesgroup plans six high-rises at Coquitlam mall (Sept. 25, 2024)

I am sad to read that a local staple of our community, Denny's, could possibly be a memory of the past.

The possibility it could be replaced by high-rises is just another disappointment in a long line of disappointments in the Tri-Cities as of late.

It seems the Tri-Cities is evolving into high-rises, high-rises and more high-rises.

Of course cities must evolve as time goes by, however, all I seem to see are these new buildings going up, with tenants/owners coming in/out in their luxury cars,  yet the aging population who has spent their lives working and contributing here, are living on the streets.

Something about that just doesn't seem right to me and it makes me sad to be part of a community that won't support their lifelong members.
