Kristina Chung is the new CEO of the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.

The acting executive director of the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation now has a permanent position.

On Thursday, Nov. 9, the foundation’s board of directors announced Kristina Chung as the replacement for Judy Zhu, who left in August — the same month former Port Coquitlam mayor Greg Moore took over the role of board chair from Tom Morton, who retired.

Chung, who has been with the foundation for five years, has more than a decade of experience with nonprofits and fundraising, according to a news release.

A longtime Tri-Cities resident, Chung was a key player in the $5-million Emergency Department Expansion Campaign and the $2.1-million Medical Imaging Campaign.

"I am honoured and excited to lead our dedicated team towards new achievements as we strive to provide the best patient-centred care for our community," Chung stated.

"I am committed to ensuring Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation continues to have a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve."

The foundation supports the Port Moody hospital on Guildford Way, which each year:

  • treats more than 50,000 medical emergencies
  • performs more than 6,000 surgeries
  • serves more than 100,000 people at its acute care site

Annually, the foundation raises money for the hospital through two signature events: the Evening of Caring Gala and the Ryan and Lucas Johansen Charity Golf Classic.

In July, the golf fundraiser scored $264,000 for the bash held at the Westwood Golf and Country Club in Coquitlam while this year's 30th annual gala collected more than $610,000.
