The new president of the Coquitlam Teachers' Association is Charley King, replacing Teresa Grandinetti, who remains past-president and newly-elected member at large to the BC Teachers' Federation.

Grandinetti leaves the CTA job as School District 43 winds up its budget process for next year, which resulted in $12.5 million in cuts to offset a $12.1-million deficit.

Grandinetti said she will be seeking a post to return to her position as a counsellor within the school district as well as keeping up with her BCTF responsibilities.

The CTA's annual general meeting will be held June 17 in the multi-purpose room at Gleneagle secondary school.
