Four Tri-City actors cast in Willy Wonka's wacky chocolate world

The story tells a fantastical tale of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory, which is discovered by Charlie Bucket and four other lucky golden ticket winners.

Four Coquitlam actors are cast in CTORA's fall musical that opens next month in Vancouver.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features Kryst Hogan of Port Coquitlam as Mrs. Teavee and Grandma Georgina while Port Moody’s Owen CB Scott portrays a male cover and is in the ensemble with Wilson Fowlie of Coquitlam.

And Grayson Besworth of Coquitlam plays Charlie #2 and is the understudy for Mike Teavee.

Based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, the CTORA show directed by Mark Carter stars Daniel Curalli as Willy Wonka and Quinlan McDonald as Charlie.

The story tells a fantastical tale of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory, which is discovered by Charlie Bucket and four other lucky golden ticket winners.

"Our production takes a lot of inspiration from the book and its original illustrations,” said Carter in a news release.

“This relatively new musical beautifully blends the familiar story and classic songs like 'Candy Man’ and ‘Pure Imagination’ with fresh, clever musical numbers. Whether you're experiencing the story for the first time or revisiting an old friend, there’s something for everyone in this production."

The production includes music from a live eight-piece orchestra led by Jeremy Hoffman.

It runs from Oct. 11 to 27 at the Norman and Annette Rothstein Theatre (950 W. 41st Ave., Vancouver). Tickets starting at $38 are now on sale via the CTORA website.
