Greg Moore has been promoted to lead a key team that manages and oversees gambling operations across the province.
Today (May 21), the former Port Coquitlam mayor and long-time Tri-Cities resident has been named the new board chair of the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC), four months after he finished a role as its interim president and CEO.
He was appointed to the temporary position in August 2019 after BCLC president Jim Lightbody was diagnosed with cancer and took a leave to focus on treatment and recovery.
Moore finished his stint in January this year after Lynda Cavanaugh took the interim reins.
Elected the city’s 15th mayor in 2008, Moore sat in PoCo’s big chair for 10 years, resigning in November 2018 when he called it quits after 16 years in politics since he was first voted to council in 2002.
During that time, he also served as chair of the Metro Vancouver board of directors for seven years.
Moore moves to BCLC’s board chair position already with experience with the gaming corporation as he was appointed to its directors' team in 2018.
He was elected to the seat by B.C. Finance Minister and Coquitlam-Maillardville MLA Selina Robinson.
He officially begins May 31, when current chair Peter Kappel’s term ends, and runs until Oct. 31, 2023.
In the private sector, Moore is listed as president and CEO of Icona Properties (LinkedIn) and he's a partner in Patina Brewing Co. in Port Coquitlam.
Moore’s résumé also includes the following:
- Chair, Port Coquitlam Finance and Intergovernmental Committee
- Co-Chair, UBCM Financial Management Steering Committee
- Trustee, Municipal Finance Authority
- Chair, Investment Sub-Committee, TransLink Mayors' Council
- More than 10 years municipal government experience as a Port Coquitlam City employee in Parks & Recreation and Development Services Departments
- Steering Committee Member, BC Mayors' Caucus
