Chuck Denison is running for election as a Coquitlam school board candidate.

A Coquitlam school trustee candidate hopes his previous experience on the School District 43 (SD43) board of education will earn him votes in the upcoming Oct. 15 election.

This week, Chuck Denison announced his candidacy for one of four Coquitlam spots on the school board.

According to his press release, Denison is seeking election to continue the "momentum" he helped build as a school board trustee from 2014 to 2018.

"Finances were stabilized. Relationships with partner groups were strengthened. Student mental health was better supported by facilitating channels to resources. More work is needed in all these areas," state Denison in his press release.

Denison is a former high school teacher, project manager and business owner who has lived in Coquitlam for 28 years.

Previously, Denison served on the executive of the Metro Branch of the School Trustees Association, and on the SD43 finance committee.

He also served on the board of the Coquitlam Foundation, including its awards committee.

His other work is as the president of the District Parent Advisory Council and Parent Advisory Council, as leader of a youth symposium and with Toastmasters.

"My experience and perspective will serve SD43 well going forward," he states.
