Businesses and groups wanting some exposure at one of the Tri-Cities’ most celebrated events can now apply for a spot.
The City of Port Coquitlam is calling for participants for the 101st annual Rotary May Day Parade, which runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Last year’s centennial procession around the downtown core drew about 100 entries and floats that were seen by about 25,000 visitors from around Metro Vancouver.

The deadline to apply is Sunday, April 14, 2024, via the city website.
The cost to join the parade is:
- $75: commercial float
- $25: incorporated, nonprofit or municipal
- no charge: unincorporated nonprofit
The announcement comes after the city and the May Days committee decided to part ways last December following difficulties to secure expertise in advertising and sponsorship, as well as a loss of federal funding.
The city said it will continue to reach out for volunteer support to stage the week-long May Days festival.
Meanwhile, applications from food and market vendors are also being accepted for the celebrations.
