Five vehicles were caught up in a fiery collision late Wednesday afternoon in Port Moody after a vehicle pulling out of a parking spot collided with a passing car.
The impact in the 2100-block of Bedwell Bay Road, on the west side of Sasamat Lake, launched the two vehicles into three other nearby parked cars. The occupants of the two vehicles got out of their cars immediately after the crash and just before they caught fire.

“We’re pretty fortunate nobody was seriously hurt,” said acting Staff Sgt. Ian Morrison of the Port Moody Police Department, adding that the occupants of the vehicles were treated for minor injuries on scene.
Port Moody Fire and Rescue also responded and put out the fires before they could spread to nearby brush and forest.
While the area was busy with vehicles, police say there was no indication that anyone was speeding.
“The parking situation up there is always difficult and [people] just need to take extra care when it’s busy,” said Morrison.
