Voters can hear about climate change and environmental action this week from federal candidates representing two Tri-City ridings.

Seven groups are organizing the townhall — with contenders from Coquitlam–Port Coquitlam and Port Moody–Coquitlam — in advance of the April 28 election.

The meeting will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Clare of Assisi parish hall (2888 Delahaye Dr., Coquitlam).

Admission is free. To reserve a spot, visit Eventbrite.ca.

“Climate and environment cannot be forgotten just because of the political instability in the USA,” said Benjamin Perry, a Force of Nature Alliance member, in a news release. “This event is about bringing people together to demand leadership and solutions that match the scale of the challenge.”

Besides Force of Nature, the townhall is being sponsored by:

  • Burke Mountain Naturalists
  • Laudato Si Movement
  • West Coast Environmental Law
  • Wondrous Tree Fellowship
  • Neighbours United
  • Westwood Plateau Community Association

Here are the candidates in the three area ridings (asterisk denotes incumbent):

Coquitlam–Port Coquitlam

New Westminster–Burnaby–Maillardville

Port Moody–Coquitlam
