Eligible Port Moody adults near 70% booster rate against COVID-19

Together with Anmore and Belcarra, the city has the highest three-dose vaccination average in all of Fraser Health.

Fraser Health hosted a pop-up immunization clinic at Port Moody's Rocky Point Park on July 17, 2021, where eligible residents who had not received their first dose could get jabbed, while those looking for a second were placed on a waitlist.

There appears to still be a demand for vaccinations against COVID-19 in the Tri-Cities.

In fact, Port Moody adults are leading the charge in the region — and the province — for booster doses, and are nearing a significant threshold in the fight against the virus.

Eligible residents aged 18 years and older in the City of the Arts, as well as Anmore and Belcarra, are close to a 70 per cent triple-vaccination rate, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

Its latest data available has the municipality at 68 per cent exactly, as of May 15, which is the highest for the age group in Fraser Health.

That's also the fourth highest three-dose rate in all of B.C. after North Vancouver (71 per cent), Victoria (71 per cent) and Vancouver (69 per cent).

Coquitlam adults (18+) currently make up a 65 per cent booster-dose rate, while Port Coquitlam adults are not far behind at 64 per cent.

Regionally, the Tri-Cities boasts a 59 per cent triple-vaccination average against COVID-19 in the data that includes adolescents aged 12 to 17, as well as those aged 18 and older.

The region maintains 92 and 90 per cent rates for first and second doses respectively among all eligible residents above age five.
