A Port Moody resident got a bit of a surprise last week when he woke up in his St. Johns Street apartment and found a complete stranger sleeping on his couch.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of March 23, when a highly intoxicated male who was staying with a friend in the building walked into the wrong unit and went to bed.
Port Moody police arrived a short time later and were able to wake the man up, but no arrests were made.
"He was extremely apologetic," said Port Moody Police Department Const. Luke van Winkel. "He was staying with a buddy a few doors down and got the wrong door due to the high level of intoxication. There were no problems and everyone understood it was just a drunken mistake."
