Olé! A new grocery store has just opened in Coquitlam with Latin American groceries and food.
Mi Tierra Latina, which began in 2020 with a storefront in the West End's Davie Village, has just opened its sixth store at 1024 Ridgeway Ave. in the Austin Heights neighbourhood.
The female-founded business sought to fill a gap in the grocery store industry by bringing in Latin American food and groceries to the Tri-Cities.
A grand-opening was held Wednesday (May 10), with lots of goodies and a mariachi band.
"When you walk into our store, you won’t have to worry about getting lost as each product is sorted according to country of origin," the company states on its website.
"Rest assured, there’s always someone available to advise you on what sauce goes well with your planned dishes. Also ask for the specials of the day."
Staff are on hand to help shoppers find what they are looking for that special Latin fiesta, including tortillas, pickles, sauces or seasonings from Mexico, Chile and Argentina, as well as specialty chips and sodas.
"Mi Tierra Latina was created as a way for Vancouver residents, Latinos and those that love to bring a touch of Latin America in their lives – to get their much needed Latin American food during the pandemic," the website further states.
Free delivery is also being offered for the rest of May.
In just a few years, Mi Tierra Latina has opened five stores including shops on Commercial Drive, Davie Street, and in Burnaby and North Vancouver.
