Daughter of missing Coquitlam woman: 'Like I'm discussing a horrible movie'

Jodine Millar's family says it's not like the 57-year-old to leave her dog behind, and they believe "something is very wrong."

Jodine Millar's number one priority has always been her dog, Molly, according to her daughter, Sara.

She left her furry friend with family at her Coquitlam home the night of Nov. 26. They often stroll the local trails together.

But that was the last time Jodine Millar was seen in person, and was reported missing to RCMP.

"For her to leave Molly behind, to me is the most obvious sign that something is very wrong," said Sara in a letter published publicly by Coquitlam Mounties today (Dec. 6).

The same day Millar was reported missing (Nov. 28), her vehicle was found unoccupied in a ditch off Highway 1 in Abbotsford. Her family is now issuing a plea to help find the 57-year-old woman.

"It seems like I'm discussing a horrible movie and not real life. My mom is missing," Sara said.

"We were very close, closer than she was with anyone else anyways. I am extremely concerned for her well being and mental state."

Millar, who recently moved to the Tri-Cities from out of province, was considered "high-risk" when police issued its missing person's report.

More cold weather stints are expected continue across the Tri-Cities — a cause for concern for Millar's physical health as well.

"Since Jodine’s disappearance, the Vancouver Lower Mainland has experienced significant snowfall and cold temperatures which increases our concern for Jodine Millar," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins.

"With more expected snowfall, Coquitlam RCMP is asking the public for assistance in providing any information regarding Jodine Millar and her whereabouts."

Vehicle found unoccupied in ditch

Police said Millar was last seen around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 26 when she left her home near the intersection of Rochester Avenue and Decaire Street.

After 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 28, Abbotsford Police were called to a single-vehicle collision eastbound on Highway 1 at the No. 3 Road exit.

An investigation determined the vehicle involved was Millar's — a brown 2011 Hyundai Tucson with a Manitoba licence plate, FXU195.

The vehicle was found unoccupied when officers arrived and witnesses told the APD "it veered off the road and into the water-filled ditch."

An earlier statement said there was an associated vehicle — a light-coloured sedan — seen leaving the area of the collision.

Coquitlam RCMP are still asking for drivers and witnesses to submit dash cam, CCTV, surveillance, cell phone and/or general video of the crash in hopes of tracking Millar.

This includes footage before, during and after the incident between the Whatcom and Yale Road exits from 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 28.

Millar is described as:

  • White
  • 5'7"
  • Slim build
  • Light-brown or dirty-blonde shoulder-length hair
  • Green eyes
  • Last seen wearing...
    • Glasses
    • Black parka jacket
    • Black ski pants
    • Grey hiking shoes
