Happy Canada Day everyone!
Every July 1, we celebrate Canada’s national holiday with pride as we each take the time to reflect on what this great country means to us.
When I think of Canada, I am reminded of the life I have been able to build here with my wife and children in such a beautiful part of our country, filled with hardworking people.
I am also reminded of our strength on the international stage.
As the world faces new obstacles, Canada continues to aid the most vulnerable in humanitarian crises, we trade with our partners to maintain our strong economy and we engage in global peace efforts amongst international institutions.
As a nation, we continue these efforts because we know the value of collaboration as it leads to peace, a strong economy and global security.
Here at home, we uphold the rule of law, and we ensure the protection of every Canadian’s right and freedom protected under our Constitution.
We uphold the Canadian values of celebrating multiculturalism within our community that only makes us stronger; however, it is also important on this day to be mindful of the country's past and the actions needed to continue our reconciliation efforts.
I am proud to live in a nation that upholds equality, human rights and a democratic society for every Canadian.
Let us appreciate the beauty and diversity of our nation as we celebrate our shared achievements.
I look forward to celebrating with neighbours and friends as I’m sure you all will, too.
