Coquitlam RCMP is offering Grade 11 and 12 students in School District 43 an opportunity to learn about the various roles of the police officer.

Coquitlam RCMP is offering Grade 11 and 12 students in School District 43 an opportunity to learn about the various roles of the police officer.

Applications are being sought now for the 2014 Introduction to Policing course that runs Monday evenings for seven weeks plus two all-day Saturday sessions and includes presentations, hands on training and real-life demonstrations on a variety of police work from diving to police dog services, forensic identification and the drugs section.

In addition, a field trip to a maximum security correctional facility, hands-on police defence tactics and the police physical evaluation test, known as PARE, are in the syllabus this year. A course fee of of $125 is required but financial assistance available.
