A Coquitlam non-profit organization is getting ready to celebrate the wealth of support it receives from the community.
SHARE Family and Community Services will recognize its major donors, partners and top volunteers at an awards ceremony to be held 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody (100 Newport Dr.).
This year’s winners are:
- Jennifer McKinnon will receive the Gertie Grosser Award in honour of the impact she’s made on the Tri-Cities community.
- McKinnon has been active with the Port Coquitlam Downtown Business Improvement Association, the Coquitlam Foundation and she’s the vice chair of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
- “Jennifer can always be counted on to say ‘yes’ when SHARE needs a hand,” said the organization in a statement. “She has been tireless in her efforts to create fundraising opportunities and partnership connections for SHARE.”
- Coquitlam Centre is the recipient of the Wesbuild Leadership in Philanthropy Award.
- The mall has donated more than $300,000 to SHARE and it’s also hosted several food drives to support the organization’s food bank.
- Trinity United Church in Port Coquitlam and Hillside Community Church in Coquitlam are both being recognized with Volunteer of the Year awards for their roles as distribution centres for SHARE’s weekly food bank.
- Onni Group is the winner of SHARE’s New Community Partnership of the Year Award as a sponsor and host for the organization’s recent Imagine gala that raised $292,000 for social services in the community.
- The Tri-Cities Female Ice Hockey Association, Coast Capital and Sam Grantham, of the Port Moody Police Department, will receive Partnership awards for their contributions teaming with SHARE to help deliver its various programs.
SHARE runs programs and services for families, children, adults and seniors in the Tri-Cities, ranging from weekly food banks to resources for refugees and new parents.
