Will Davis, a long-time Coquitlam resident and father of five, is running for the Liberal nomination in the Port Moody-Coquitlam riding.

A long-time Coquitlam resident who has been active in his children’s schools is putting his hat in the ring for the federal Liberal nomination in Port Moody-Coquitlam.

Will Davis said in a statement he wants to work on behalf of constituents to bring infrastructure dollars to the region, for projects including social housing.

The father of five, who has lived in both Port Moody and Coquitlam as a 21-year Tri-City resident, has been active in three school parent advisory councils in School District 43 and is a consultant, working with businesses and not-for profit organizations.

In his statement, he said he believes public service is his calling, after working in diverse roles as a community organizer, entrepreneur and broadcaster.

“I’ve always taken every opportunity to give back to my community,” Davis wrote. “A commitment to public service is one of the main reasons I’m putting my name forward to become the next Member of Parliament for Port Moody-Coquitlam.”

The riding is currently held by Conservative MP Nelly Shin, who was acclaimed last year to run again.

Davis is the second candidate seeking to run for the federal Liberal Party in the riding: Kyle Demes has also announced his intention to represent the party in Port Moody-Coquitlam.

A nomination date has yet to be announced; a federal election date has also yet to be called.
