The latest hot spot for crime, according to Coquitlam RCMP, is in the city centre of Coquitlam.
The RCMP report recent criminal activity, including break-ins to businesses and garages, and thefts from vehicles is up in an area from Landsdowne Drive in the west to Westwood Street in the east, and from Glen Drive in the north to the Barnet Highway in the south.
To prevent crime in the area, RCMP are advising businesses to train their employees to recognize suspicious and criminal activity, how to respond safely and to report to police. It’s also suggested joining an area business association. Vehicles should be locked with the windows closed and briefcases, purses, backpacks and other valuables should not be left unattended.
