A report of a man with a weapon near Scott Creek middle school prompted a brief lockdown on Monday afternoon.
Coquitlam RCMP responded shortly after 3:15 p.m. but after a thorough investigation of the premises and surrounding area it was determined the report was unfounded and the situation was downgraded to a "hold-and-secure," which is used when an incident on or off school property does not pose an immediate threat to students and staff.
The man who had initially reported the unfounded incident was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and the hold-and-secure was lifted at about 4:20 p.m.
