Loosen those belts.
A beloved Port Moody bakery that’s been out of commission for months is about to tantalize taste buds and expand waistlines again.
Casa Del Pane Italian Bakery in NewPort Village (242 Newport Dr.) has announced it should be reopening by Jan. 22, if not sooner.
The bakery, renowned in the city for more than 30 years for its fanciful Italian pastries like cannoli, limoncello-filled bomboloni and cream cornetti, as well as breads and deli items like fresh pasta, was forced to close for renovations last April after a flood.
A statement on Casa Del Pane’s website said the bakery is anticipating the arrival of a new oven next Monday, Jan. 8.
“This is the news we were all waiting for,” said the statement, adding further updates and a definitive date for the bakery’s reopening will be posted on its Instagram page.
If comments on local social media sites are any indicator, customers have been anxiously awaiting Casa Del Pane’s return.
“We will be there the minute you reopen,” said one on Instagram.
“Our family has missed you so badly,” said another. “I’m ecstatic to look forward to the opening.”
The feeling is mutual.
“We hope you’re excited because we sure are,” said the bakery on Instagram. “We can’t wait for you to come back see us.”
