The 2,600 teachers of the Coquitlam Teachers’ Association would like to extend a warm welcome back to the parents and students of School District 43 (SD43).

There is a busy year ahead and your teachers have been working hard to ensure the upcoming school year is as enriching and exciting for all of our students.

The teachers of School District 43 value the relationships with our parents and we know parents value the hard work of educators in helping the students of SD43 be the best they can be.

Education is the cornerstone of civil society and the support of teachers and the public helps ensure that it is valued as it should be.

With the dwindling days of summer upon us, we hope everyone values the remaining family time and know we will be there to welcome your children into a safe, healthy and positive learning environment on Sept. 3.

Ken Christensen is the president of the Coquitlam Teachers Association, the union of professionals serving Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. All public school teachers in these areas belong to the BCTF (British Columbia Teachers’ Federation) and their local teachers’ association.
