A soft opening is taking place this weekend for a long-awaited food and wine addition to a neighbourhood in Coquitlam.
On & Off Kitchen and Bar, offering brunch and a wine bar, is set to open on Saturday (Aug. 13), according to a social media post.
On & Off is located at 2662 Austin Ave. at Austin Heights Station, which also has a Save-On-Foods store.
It offers banquette-style seating, a patio with views of the coastal mountains and a large wine bar.
It is being launched by a brother and sister duo who already own two restaurants and a bakery cafe, including Tabom in Coquitlam.
Manager Johnny Kim said patrons can expect a unique dining experience, with European fusion-inspired food, decor and wine list.
Although the On & Off is waiting for its liquor license, expected later this fall or winter, it will be expanding its brunch menu to include dinner offerings, such as steak and pasta.
Kim said the brunch menu is highlighted by bread, pastries and deserts made on site with creative turns to salads and sandwiches among the offerings.

“We have full pastry and baking program, we are making everything in-house,” said Kim, who noted that On & Off serves great coffee, as well.
“Our salads are amazing,” Kim added.
With summer harvests on the way, diners can expect to try the Grilled Peach Salad with fried prosciutto or the Orchard Salad, with peach coconut yogurt.
Sandwiches include a Porchetta Sandwich, featuring tender pork belly, sautéed rapini and truffle Aioli.
“It’s a very juicy and tender pork sandwich,” Kim said.
The owners acknowledged on social media the interest in the new dining spot.
"Many of you have asked about our opening and we are happy to finally announce our soft opening date. We open our door this coming Saturday, Aug 13th. Can’t wait to serve you all!"
The soft opening begins at 8:30 a.m., with last call and closing time scheduled for 3 p.m.
Reservations are not available during the soft opening, On & Off said on social media..
