Chanteuse Joëlle Rabu will be back in Maillardville this month for an encore performance in the French-Canadian community.
Rabu will be part of the Jazz & Blues Night at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) on Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passing of Edith Piaf. The show is being produced by the Société Francophone de Maillardville. Tickets are $12 at the door.

A Port Moody music finalist in The Peak Performance Project will host a charity benefit concert next Sunday.
Greg Drummond and his band will rise to the radio competition challenge by playing for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Oct. 13 show with Jasper Sloan Yip and Rolla Olak will take place at St. James Hall (3215 West 10th Ave. Vancouver).

A supernatural thriller will be screened at the Inlet Theatre next Friday by the Port Moody Film Society.

Fashion writer J.J. Lee will read from his memoir in Port Coquitlam this month. Lee penned the critically acclaimed non-fiction book The Measure of a Man: The Story of a Father, a Son, and a Suit, which weaves the tale of love and forgiveness. His talk will be on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Rd.).

GRANT TIME
Artists and arts, culture and heritage groups in Port Coquitlam now have another month to apply for a city grant.
The city has extended its application date for the Community Cultural Development Investment Program from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30.
Grants will be awarded to individuals and organizations in PoCo - or who have a regional or national mandate that includes PoCo - who are creating a new or sustaining arts- or culture-related project.
Applications can be found at portcoquitlam.ca (under City Government, Committees, Community Cultural Development Committee) and downloaded from the left side of the page. Completed forms are to be emailed to [email protected]. The next grant deadline will be April 30, 2014.
