Port Moody Film Society's pick for November is an Australian work titled Beneath Hill 60.
The 2010 award-winning movie - timed to coincide with the Remembrance Day weekend - is based on real-life events about a group of civilian miners during the First World War who are commissioned to tunnel underneath German lines and plant bombs.
Meanwhile, Home for Supper will precede the feature presentation; that short, produced by the Capilano University film program, is also based on a true story about two Romanian boys who try to escape enlistment during the Second World War.
Director Brett Taylor and writer/producer Luc Poletto will answer questions about their piece afterwards. Admission to both shows on Nov. 9 is $5 with an annual $5 society membership. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. at the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr.). Visit pmfilm.ca.
