Six second-year Douglas College theatre students - including Heather Wyborn of Coquitlam - will star in drama Steel Magnolias next month.
The Robert Harling play will run at the Studio Theatre at the college (700 Royal Ave., New Westminster) from Nov. 1 to 9. Tickets are available by calling the Massey Theatre at 604-521-5050.

Family art classes - with a holiday theme - will be offered this fall at Coquitlam's Evergreen Cultural Centre.
Parents and their children (aged five and over) can sign up for Holiday Family Fun with Clay on Tuesdays with instructor Sarah Brownlee. The hour-long classes run from Nov. 12 to Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $100.
As well, artist Judith M. Atkinson has Making Art Together: Holiday Cards on Saturday, Dec. 7, also for parents and children aged five and up. The cost for the one-day session is $25.

Another show has been added for the Arts Club Theatre production of Boeing-Boeing in Coquitlam.

FIRST NATIONS
A library chain that includes Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox library is looking for a First Nations artist-in-residence.
The Fraser Valley Regional Library wants to promote aboriginal arts in its community branches, which serve nearly 700,000 residents in the region. The chosen artist will tour 12 FVRL locations to work on an art project next June; the artist can work with any media.
