Make your Wednesday morning a musical one at the Evergreen Cultural Centre on April 3, when acclaimed trumpet player Marcus Goddard performs.

Part of the Musical Mornings series of salon-type concerts hosted by acclaimed pianist and producer Sarah Hagen, the events start off with coffee, tea and treats, followed by a 75-minute concert led by Hagen and a special guest.

Goddard is the Associate Principal Trumpet with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, with performance credits including Vancouver New Music, Standing Wave, the Vancouver Opera, CBC Orchestra and the VSO Brass Quintet. He's also a member of Vancouver's Turning Point Ensemble.

Internationally, Goddard has performed as principal trumpet of the Tenerife Symphony and has held principal positions in the Owensboro Symphony and the Columbus, Indiana Philharmonic as well as co-principal stints in the Spoleto Festival, the Aims Festival in Austria and the National Orchestral Institute.

Goddard has composed more than 35 works, including four recent pieces for large orchestra and several for varied chamber ensembles. His most recent work, I Send Only Angels, was commissioned by the VSO and premiered in 2007 to critical acclaim.

The VSO has also performed Goddard's My End is My Beginning and Stay on the Sea while the Victoria Symphony performed Angels.
