Inlet Book Club (drop-in): This book discussion group meets in the ParkLane Room from 1 to 3 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. At the Feb. 6 session, the book discussed will be Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. Don't be misled by the title of this beautifully written novel, it is not only about music. The action takes place during a lavish birthday party in an unnamed South American country. It blends opera and terrorism into a tale that most readers will find unforgettable.
Tech Café: How does this darn techie thing work? Find the answer to basic computer questions at free one-on-one sessions at PMPL. Drop by the ParkLane Room on Feb. 1 and/or 8 between 4 and 5:30 p.m. and meet knowledgeable teen volunteers who will help you with a variety of technology basics: email, smartphones, Microsoft Office and more.
From Memoir to Novel (registration required): On Feb. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m., the Federation of BC Writers of the Tri-Cities hosts its inaugural meeting. Meet the members and enjoy a workshop with author Ben Nuttall-Smith, who will lead participants in hands-on writing exercises.
Spelling Bee: While registration is full for contestants, you can still enjoy watching this event, which takes place Feb. 9. Drop in to the Inlet Theatre at 2 p.m. to support enthusiastic and talented School District 43 Grade 4 and 5 students who will amaze with their spelling skills.

World Film Night: Head to the Terry Fox Library for an entertaining night of world cinema. Librarians will be playing award-winning films from around the globe, so bring your friends and sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Friends of the Library will sell refreshments at the intermission. February's film is Bacheha-Ye Aseman (Children of Heaven), a 1997 Iranian film directed by Majid Majidi. Synopsis: When Ali loses his sister Zahra's school shoes, the children dream up a plan to stay out of trouble: They'll share his shoes and keep it a secret. But if they're going to cover their tracks, the kids must carefully watch their step on what turns into a funny and heartwarming adventure. The next film night is Wednesday, Feb. 13, 6 to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
