Books Plus runs in The Tri-City News each Friday to highlight programs and happenings in the Tri-Cities' three libraries: Coquitlam Public Library, Port Moody Public Library and Terry Fox Library in Port Coquitlam.
COQUITLAM
What's Eating You? Biological Control of Insect Pests in the Home Garden: When people grow plants for food, some of those plants end up being eaten by pests - insects that compete with us for our food crops. The good news is that there are predators that feed on these pests. Biological control provides a sustainable, ecologically-based alternative to the use of chemical pesticides for pest management. Rob McGregor from the Institute of Urban Ecology at Douglas College will discuss methods in biological control along with a community-based program where local gardeners collect information on biological control in the home garden. The session runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. next Thursday, June 28, in the Nancy Bennett Room at the Poirier branch.
Phone 604-937-4155 to register for this free program.
