Books Plus runs in The Tri-City News each Friday to highlight programs and happenings in the Tri-Cities' three libraries: Coquitlam Public Library, Port Moody Public Library and Terry Fox Library in Port Coquitlam.
PORT MOODY
Adult Learners Book Club: PMPL has a book discussion group for readers who are learning English. The Adult Learners Book Club meets once a month to talk about a book written in simple language. Deborah Ellis' short and compelling novel about homelessness, In from the Cold, will be discussed at the next meeting on Wednesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. Join librarians for this opportunity to read more, practise English conversation and make new friends. All adult learners, including ESL, are welcome.
Borrow an e-reader: PMPL offers free loans of Sony Wi-Fi and Kobo Touch e-readers to registered cardholders. Readers are pre-loaded with 85 titles and you can download free titles from the library's e-book Library to Go collection.
Novelist, a great tool for book lovers: You can search this free online database from the PMPL website with your library card. Use the "Author Read a-likes" button to find authors writing novels similar to your favourite books. Or browse for something completely different from your usual reads. Novelist is your one-stop guide to fiction, including genres, authors and award winners, as well as book discussion suggestions and author interviews.
