ART EXHIBIT
Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) opens three new displays in its Maillardville galleries: Sharing Culture Through the Natural World (Place des Arts’ community engaged art project); Evolution of Self and Indigenous Art (various artists); and Of the Earth (Fraser Valley Potters Guild Association). The first two shows will be on view in the facility from Sept. 9 to Oct. 19, while Of the Earth can be seen at Place des Arts from Sept. 9 to Nov. 3.

FILM NIGHT
The Port Moody Film Society rolls Leave No Trace, a story about a father and daughter who live in Forest Park near Portland, Ore. The adventure/drama flick will be screened at the Inlet Theatre (inside Port Moody City Hall, 100 Newport Dr.) at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 plus a $5 society membership for the year.

KIDSPORT SALE
The biannual used equipment sale by KidSport Tri-Cities is at the Poirier Forum (618 Poirier St., Coquitlam) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Second-hand bikes, hockey gear and lacrosse outfits can be picked up at a low cost. Admission is by donation or with a non-perishable item for the Share food bank. Until Sept. 9, used equipment can be dropped off at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex or the PoCo Community Centre.

GLORIOUS FOOD
The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival is back for a community block party at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park (1299 Pinetree Way). The event runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., as well as 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. The food trucks include Aloha Poke, Cannoli King, Shameless Buns, Dog Amigos, Oh My Gado and It’s All About the Grill.

MID AUTUMN
Join the Coquitlam Heritage Society for the Mid Autumn Moon Family Day at Mackin House Museum (1116 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam), featuring a mooncake demonstration, music, dance, crafts and story time. The drop-in event from noon to 3 p.m. is free; all ages are welcome. As well, the Tri-City Chinese Community Society will be with PoCo Heritage volunteers at Leigh Square (next to Port Coquitlam City Hall) for an afternoon of entertainment from 1 to 6 p.m. The PoCo Mid-Autumn Festival includes dance, song, calligraphy activities and a market.

STREET PARTY
The City of Port Coquitlam will close the newly rebuilt McAllister Avenue in the downtown core for a street party, from 1 to 7 p.m. Check out the free entertainment, displays and activities for the family. The Port Coquitlam firefighters will also face off against the RCMP at 3 p.m. for a free charity hockey game in the Jon Baillie Arena in the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.).

TREE WALK
Lace up your hiking shoes for a tour of the historical σəμιθ̓ʷəʔελə/Riverview Lands in Coquitlam, a century-old site. Hosted by the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society, the walk will be led by an arborist. Meet at 1 p.m. in the parking lot on the upper side of the Henry Esson Young (HEY) building; look for signs.
