FAIRY TALE?
Centennial secondary's musical theatre class tackles a fairy tale with some real-world twists in Into the Woods, tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. (570 Poirier St., Coquitlam). The Steven Sondheim musical mixes several fairy tale plots and characters, with a not-so-happily-ever-after ending. Tickets are $15/$12 at the door.
FILM NIGHT
The Port Moody Film Society features a drama/comedy that kicks off with the death of a Romanian immigrant in Israel in The Human Resources Manager (Hebrew/subtitles). When a reporter links the woman's death to her former employer, the company's HR manager gets involved with mixed results. Theatrix Youtheatre presents the Heart and Soul Arts Festival at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam), featuring 120 students from the Theatrix Lunchbox Theatre program at four Coquitlam elementary schools. PDA FAMILY DAY
Take part in Place des Arts' Family Day (1120 Brunette Ave.), featuring tours of three exhibitions ranging from a multi-media look at family history to the beauty of nature, followed by a variety of all-ages drop-in workshops, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. You can also take part in a public weaving session for PdA's Social Fabric Project (bring a special "thread" to weave into the 40th anniversary tapestry).
