Kids and parents can get up close with some Creatures of the Not-so-deep at a program Saturday at Belcarra Regional Park.

This free family event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and participants will get to explore the beach at low tide and spot shore crabs, sea stars and squirting clam siphons.

They'll join Metro Vancouver and Belcarra Beachkeepers for a puppet show and to make a fish print to take home; they can also take part in a beach seine led by a local biologist ti discover what creatures live beneath the waves.

To get to the park, follow Ioco Road road through Port Moody to the Belcarra picnic area and look for the tents. Plan an hour or more to complete all activities and bring rubber boots or shoes that can get muddy.
