The public is invited to a celebration of the re-opening of the Moody Street overpass and the PoMo Rotary Bike Trials Park on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The celebration will be held on the north end of the Moody Street overpass beside Rocky Point Park and will mark the completion of a $1.9-million sidewalk widening and seismic upgrade paid for with the help of grants from the Ministry of Transportation and TransLink.
Work included seismic strengthening of the structure and the addition of 3 m of sidewalk on the east side of the bridge to allow a separated dual pathway for cyclists and pedestrians. Fencing was also strengthened to meet Evergreen Line standards and was paid for by the Evergreen Line project.
A public art portion is also planned for the new walkway area.
