A self-taught artist from Langley will be the guest at the next Art Focus Artists' Association demonstration.
Verna Brown will show her skills in The Outlet at Leigh Square (next to Port Coquitlam city hall) from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Brown started with charcoal pencils, pastel chalks on paper and acrylic on glass painting. Now, she mostly works with acrylics on canvas — as well as ink using watercolour techniques — to create colourful images of pets.
She also has created three murals in Langley.
"I paint to be happy," she wrote in her artist statement. "I use wild colours and wild lines. My greatest satisfaction is seeing a smile come over a viewer’s face when they take in my work. My largest body of work over the last three years has been the 175 Pet Portraits that I have had the honour to render."
