A fundraising campaign by three university students for a Coquitlam school wraps up tomorrow (Thursday).
The three MBA students at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) want to help support the breakfast, lunch and after-school programs at Maillard middle school.
Their goal is to raise $1,500 by April 10, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the school. Donations can be made at www.youcaring.com (search: Maillard Middle) or by contacting Teri-Ann Bell at [email protected].
Maillard middle runs a breakfast program for under-privileged children and the program co-ordinator realized the kids benefitting from it also needed lunch and after-school snacks. Currently, the school does not have the funding to support the students deemed vulnerable and money is needed for food and new kitchen equipment.
"In the end, we just want to help feed the kids and put smiles on their faces so they can focus on school and their education," said Bell, who grew up in Coquitlam and attended Maillard middle school.
