Do you know who to call if you discover an injured bird or other wild animal?
Lots of people do know the answer to this question, resulting in 2012 being the busiest year on record at Wildlife Rescue Association's (WRA) care facilities. Last year, more that 4,000 animals were admitted to B.C.'s largest animal rehabilitation centre, which is located on the shore of Burnaby Lake.
At the Feb. 12 meeting of the Burke Mountain Naturalists, WRA educator Johanna Thompson will present a video and slideshow on what happens once an animal enters the care centre and how it is rehabilitated for eventual release back into the wild. The care facilities are not open for tours, so this virtual tour is an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about this local organization that receives injured, orphaned and pollution-damaged wildlife.
