A new website for pregnant moms is being hailed as an excellent resource for families to find out more about resources and information for preparing for a healthy pregnancy.
Fraser Health's Best Beginnings website at bestbeginnings.fraserhealth.ca contains information provided by doctors, hospital maternity staff and public health employees to promote the health of pregnant women, new moms and babies living in Fraser Health communities, including the Tri-Cities.
"The Best Beginnings website is an excellent resource for new and expectant mothers and families. All pregnant women should visit the website to register in the prenatal system and to access valuable insights, tips and information that supports healthy pregnancy and healthy child development," stated Dr. Victoria Lee, executive medical director for population health in a press release.
In addition to the online prenatal registration, the Best Beginnings website provides information about understanding fertility, depression and anxiety, healthy child development and links to local community services. It also shares tips and solutions to practical questions about finances, managing relationships, and information specifically for new dads. This local resource complements the province's healthy families BC website available at http://healthyfamiliesbc.ca/ which is aimed at improving the health and well being of British Columbians throughout life.
Currently, more than 60% of women complete prenatal registration through a paper-based format. This option will continue to be available to those women who choose, or who are unable to register online.
