Search over Vancouver’s English Bay for missing person

Search and rescue were scouring the area for the missing person by air and boat.

A search for a missing person took place over Vancouver’s English Bay on Friday.

Vancouver Police confirm the search effort but cannot provide any details about the missing individual.

The Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft, a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter and a drone were seen flying and circling over the ocean and surrounding area for hours.

Const. Tania Visintin says she will provide more details as they become available.

On Friday, the large drone flew over the shore near Third Beach and Second Beach pausing to search the water and area.

At 7 p.m. people started noticing the helicopter flying along Vancouver’s seawall and ocean. The helicopter and rescue boats were going back and forth from Kitsilano Beach, Wreck Beach, Third Beach and Ambleside Beach.

Glacier Media has also reached out to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre for more details.
