A Surrey man has been arrested in connection to a murder near the White Rock Pier last week.
On Monday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), with help from the Integrated Emergency Response Team, arrested a 28-year-old man.
Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT says this remains a very active investigation.
“We recognize the public's concern for safety and want to provide updates as soon as possible,” says Pierotti.
On April 23 at 9:26 p.m., White Rock RCMP responded to the 15400-block of Marine Drive and located an injured man.
Police have identified Kulwinder Singh Sohi, 26, as the victim. They say he suffered fatal stab wounds.
A GoFundMe for Sohi has raised more than $50,000.
His brother, Gurleen Sohi, says Kulwinder was "hard working and really passionate person."
"I’m really shocked and depressed after this tragic loss."
IHIT is looking for witnesses to come forward who were in the area of the White Rock Promenade, east of the White Rock Pier near the parking lot adjacent to the Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles (Pa-Kwach-Tun) Memorial Plaza or driving on Marine Drive.
The identity of the Surrey man is not being released by IHIT. At this time, it does not appear charges have been approved or laid.
Anyone with dash camera footage or who has information from April 23 between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. is asked to contact police at the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at [email protected].
Police will release more information as it becomes available.
