Photos: B.C. windstorm downs trees, disrupts power

Tens of thousands of people were without power from the windstorm.

More than 250,000 BC Hydro customers lost power during a vigorous windstorm on Vancouver Island and B.C.'s south coast on Monday.

Environment Canada issued a wind warning calling for very strong northwest winds from 11 a.m. until the evening, with gusts of up to 100 km/h.

In Vancouver, there were downed trees on vehicles, roads, and walkways. Flights and BC Ferries were also impacted.

BC Hydro was working to restore power to those left in the dark, but said it might take longer for some areas with significant damage.
