It's the official election day in Vancouver.
Today (Oct. 15) voters will vote for a mayor, 10 councillors, seven Park Board commissioners, and nine school trustees. Each position will be held for a four-year term.
For those heading to the polls, there are a few things you may want to know, including what to expect on the ballot, where to vote, and what to bring.
Here is everything you need to know about election day:
What's on the voting ballot?
There are 137 candidates contending for 27 positions, including 15 candidates for mayor, 59 candidates for councillors, 32 candidates for Park Board commissioners, and 31 candidates or School Trustees.
Voters can expect candidate names to be randomized but in numerical order, and voters will also decide on three Capital Plan borrowing questions.
What should voters bring to the voting place?
Voters can bring their list of candidates to the voting place via a piece of paper, a Voters' Guide, a mobile device (taking photos of ballots is not permitted), or any other device that works for them.
Registered voters can bring a piece of ID for faster processing times or their voter information card if they received one.
If a voter is registering for the first time, they can:
- Provide two pieces of ID that both show their name.
- At least one piece must show their address
- At least one piece must include their signature.
- Provide one piece of identification and make a solemn declaration
- They may also make in front of the person in charge of the voting place.
COVID-19 safety at the voting place

- One-way entrance for most voting places
- All election officials will have COVID-19 safety training
- All election officials will have been vaccinated against COVID-19, consistent with the City's policies
- Limited number of people allowed inside the voting place at one time
