A worker at a Port Moody Thrifty Foods has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the grocery chain’s parent company.
Sobeys Inc. announced the workplace COVID-19 notification March 22, with the worker last said to have worked March 16. No information has been provided around any potential exposures, though the grocery store at 170 Brew Street remains open.
Sobeys, has issued 16 such notifications for its locations across British Columbia since March 7, including a Port Coquitlam Safeway where one worker tested positive after last working March 14.
The notification comes as 1,437 new cases of COVID-19 were reported across the province over the weekend — a further 16 people died from the virus over that same period.
Also on Monday, hospitalizations from the coronavirus climbed to over 300 for the first time since the end of January. In total, 5,290 people have been reported with active cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia.
