No injuries in Vancouver residential tower blaze

Firefighters are tackling a "multi-unit, multi-floor highrise fire."

Vancouver firefighters are currently on the scene of a fire near the top of one the city's residential towers.

Vancouver Fire Rescue Service (VFRS) is on scene at a "multi-unit, multi-floor highrise fire," according to a post on social media.

The fire is at the 26-storey tower at 1500 Alberni St., near the intersection with Nicola Street in the West End near Coal Harbour.

"Crews are inside fighting the fire," states the VFRS. "Please avoid the area of Alberni and Nicola."

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services information officer Matthew Trudeau says there was heavy fire on multiple floors.

Vancouver Fire Chief Karen Fry confirms there are no injuries at this time.
